We are developing an Intelligent Glasses-free 3D Virtual Environment Rehabilitation System (IGVERS) and our first target group is patients after stroke. Stroke is among the leading cause of long-term disability with up to 85% of patients with stroke experience upper limb motor deficits. Motor function of upper limb, in particular the hand function, occupies more than 60% of the physical function for an individual. However, the recovery of upper limb motor function post stroke is clinical challenging, and the outcomes of upper limb rehabilitation remains unsatisfactory. Our technique integrates neural rehabilitation, virtual reality technology, somatosensory interaction technology, naked eye 3D display technology and other multidisciplinary knowledge to create a virtual reality rehabilitation training system that can be used for rehabilitation evaluation and training. The equipment used in this project includes glasses-free 3D display, leap motion controller and self-designed rehabilitation training program. The program is designed to provide patients with more vivid, interesting, convenient and effective rehabilitation treatment training techniques and methods.
