Polygenic risk score for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in Chinese population and its application in disease warning

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the most serious chronic respiratory disease, which has a high incidence rate and mortality, resulting in a serious social medical burden. At present, the diagnosis and treatment of COPD in clinical practice mainly focus on patients in the middle and late stages, with poor prognosis. Therefore, it is crucial to achieve early screening and diagnosis of COPD. In this project, we will construct a polygenic risk score (PRS) model for early warning and prevention of COPD in Chinese population. Based on a genome-wide association study (GWAS) of a Chinese cohort, we will optimize the PRS model through traditional “C+T” method or machine learning-based methods. Furthermore, we will evaluate the effectiveness of the PRS model in an independent Chinese cohort. The results of this project are expected to have important practical application value for clinical risk assessment and early warning of COPD in Chinese population.
