The aim is to develop a device that removes breast cancer tumors without open surgery. To determine if a lesion visible on X-ray is cancer a biopsy is necessary. 60% of all breast cancers are detected via mammography and 80% of the tumors are less than 2 cm. Today’s products can take a 3 mm sample of the lesion and if cancer the tumor must be removed by open surgery. The Resitu patented biopsy-technology enables the whole lesion with margins can be removed and no open surgery is required.
